NTEK Design Solutions Inc. is a multi-disciplinary company, established in 2010 and based in Barbados, providing Research, Innovation and Development to a variety of sectors.

We specialize in supplying regional and international clients with alternative energy and environmental solutions. We provide a selection of solar panel equipment for businesses and homes, and a wide range of water management and disaster risk reduction solutions, which include equipment for:

  • Surface water, groundwater and water quality testing.
  • Hydro-meteorological monitoring (real time alerts and warnings) and climate management.

We have a team of professionals with a combination of over 10 years’ experience in the industry and have worked on projects in the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. Our aim is to continue to provide top-of-the-line solutions for our clients.

Dwayne Squires

Director
Dwayne is a system integrator with NDESI and has played a key role in problem solving for complex agricultural system which require renewable energy applications, greenhouses components and agricultural software development in C++, and SQL. His past experiences are working for Non-Governmental Organizations and he has also installed and programmed hydro-meteorological equipment for NDESI’s clients. He is versed at bringing the entire components for the system together to function appropriately.

Cherie Pounder

Director
Cherie is a water resources management professional, focusing on the Caribbean region, and acted as regional hydrologist for CARICOM and WMO. Her skills include stakeholder consultations, vulnerability and impact studies, hydrometric networks, rainfall-runoff modelling and flood hydrology, applied to risk management plans for drought, flooding and climate change, and disaster risk reduction and management and climate change risk reduction at the community, national and regional levels.

  • 2018

    Procurement and Programming of Hydro-meteorological System for Government of Guyana and Belize

    NTEK Design Solutions personnel procured hydro-meteorological equipment for the country offices and provided system integration on rain gauges and telecommunications with the assistance of LIME and Digicel. This ensured transmission to the regional database system and to local offices.
  • 2017-2018

    Groundwater Mapping and Water Quality Analysis for UNESCO, Kingston Office, Jamaica



    Activities in the Northern Districts of Belize for the Belize National Hydrological Service included determining regional groundwater flow characteristics, and water quality within aquifers of northern Belize, to support a sustainable groundwater resources development plan to the Belize National Hydrological Service.

    • Evaluation of the needs of the Belize National Hydrological Service and map the Northern aquifer
    • Advisement on Centralised Databases; Assessment of the project document and recommendations; Planned support mission;
    • Hydrological, Groundwater [Abstraction] Water Quality Analysis.
    • Reviewed the Belize legislation and department governing water resources
    • Capacity building activities for the project team; Field mission, Briefing meetings; Support for technical report; and Support for strategic planning and resource mobilization
  • 2017

    Development of a National Adaptation Strategy to Address Climate Change in Saint Kitts and Nevis

    Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment for the Basseterre Watershed in Saint Kitts and Nevis for ESL [Environment Solutions Ltd], Jamaica.
  • 2016-2017

    Hydrological analysis of the basins in the islands, rainfall runoff analysis, water resources assessment, demand and impact of climate variability

    This study carried out for The Caribbean Community Climate Change Center, Belize. EU GCCA included:

    • Mapping of recent and past floods, rainfall analysis [long term trend analysis, drought and flood years, rainfall return periods and forecasting], hydrological modelling using HEC HMS to predict runoff from extreme events
    • Water demand and supply assessment, groundwater flow and projections into future using climate model results and adaptation plans and strategies
    • Hydrology and hydrogeological study of the watersheds of the country. Watershed modelling considering the change in land-use pattern, flood risk, and estimation of runoff from extreme rainfall events
    • Hazard assessment of the watersheds. Mapping of recent and past floods, rainfall analysis
    • Trend analysis of water demand, production and supply for Antigua and Barbuda, including groundwater flow directions and projections into future using climate model results and adaptation plans and strategies
